(8/28/2018) "The finest wine I've ever tasted from Mas Saint Louis, and I suspect the best ever made, the 2016 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Grande Reserve (80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre) got more than a few 'Wows!' in the notes and is locked and loaded with meaty dark fruits, pepper, Peking duck, and Asian spice-like aromas and flavors. Partially destemmed and brought up all in demi-muids, it shows a classic, old-school style (no doubt due to the stems), full body, a heavenly, powerful, yet elegant texture, and a great finish. Bravo! Maturity: 2020 - 2036."

(12/2019) "Deep vivid crimson. Powerful, mineral-tinged red and blue fruit preserve, exotic spice, incense and potpourri notes on the expansive nose. Shows excellent depth as well as energy to the sweet Chambord, boysenberry and spicecake flavors, which acquire a smoky nuance as the wine opens up. In a vaguely modern style, in the best sense, showing strong closing thrust, rounded tannins and a late touch of spiciness. All demi-muids. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2034."
